Wet Utility Inspector

About the role

WSP is seeking a Wet Utility Inspector to join its Abu Dhabi team, supporting construction supervision of major transportation, roads, utilities and infrastructure projects. The role involves inspecting wet utility works, monitoring site activities and ensuring compliance with specifications, drawings, authority requirements and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect wet utility works including water transmission and distribution networks, sewerage systems, stormwater drainage, irrigation systems and related infrastructure.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications and authority requirements.
• Conduct inspections of pipelines, manholes, chambers, valve installations, pumping stations and utility crossings.
• Review contractor inspection requests, method statements, shop drawings and material approvals.
• Witness pressure, leakage and pipeline testing, flushing, commissioning and related activities.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Site Engineers, contractors, authorities and project stakeholders.
• Identify non-conforming works and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance on site and monitor project progress.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Wet Utility Inspector on roads, transportation, utilities and infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in construction supervision consultancy environments.
• Strong knowledge of water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage and irrigation systems.
• Familiarity with Abu Dhabi and UAE authority standards and utility specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction documents.
• Strong communication, coordination and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
