Wound Care Nurse – Clinical Support

About the role

The Wound Care Nurse provides advanced specialist advice, assessment and treatment to in‑patients with complex wounds at SSMC. The role coordinates clinical care for high‑risk patients across the continuum of care, integrating advanced pathophysiology knowledge to plan and monitor patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, treat and document complex wounds for in‑patients.
• Develop and implement individualized wound‑care plans.
• Act as educator and consultant for staff, patients and families.
• Precept junior nurses and lead quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Participate in multidisciplinary committees and ensure compliance with clinical standards.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of post‑qualification clinical nursing experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a wound‑care unit.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent (minimum two‑year program).
• Registered Nurse status in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia.
• Valid national nursing licence and current BLS certification.

Required skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Proficiency in wound assessment and dressing techniques.
• Ability to educate patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
