Accountant - Overseas Payments & Monthly Close

About the role

Chef Middle East is looking for an Accountant to join its Finance team. The role supports the business with day-to-day finance activities and contributes to the efficient management of financial and accounting functions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and process overseas payments and manage the expectations of overseas suppliers while facilitating smooth communication with all parties
• Assist with timely closure of monthly accounts, including intercompany entries, general journal entries, margin-related entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with the management of external audit requests
• Support Accountants and Assistant Accountants in administering inventory bookings, rebates and supplier claims, and record and reconcile MEAs
• Prepare monthly Cost of Goods Sold reconciliation and carry out general accounting, filing and daily operations
• Verify, post and pay ENOC/ADNOC billings; book supplier purchase returns and claims promptly
• Calculate, record and reconcile accruals and other creditors
• Book and pay utility bills online (DEWA) and reconcile overseas supplier accounts monthly
• Review systems and processes and make improvements where possible
• Act as first checker on local payments to ensure controls are met, and manage vendor rebates so they are recorded correctly and collected on time
• Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts and submit them on time
• Support LTR banking limits and the preparation and submission of LTR requests to ADCB
• Handle application of letters of credit, insurance amendments where applicable and document collections

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Minimum 7 years' experience in a similar role handling overseas payments

Required skills

• Fluent use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX/365 is advantageous
