Anesthesia Specialist (Temporary)

About the role

The Specialist, Anesthesia provides high‑quality peri‑operative anesthesia care for surgical, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The role includes pre‑anesthetic assessment, intra‑operative management, post‑anesthesia recovery and participation in emergency response, ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre‑anesthetic evaluations and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer general, regional, local, and monitored anesthesia in accordance with clinical privileges.
• Monitor patients intra‑operatively, manage airways, hemodynamics and respond to peri‑operative complications.
• Provide post‑anesthesia care, ensure safe recovery and participate in pain management services.
• Respond to emergency situations such as cardiac arrests and trauma activations.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing, intensivists and allied health professionals to coordinate patient care.

Required profile

• MBBS/MBChB or equivalent medical degree and recognized specialty qualification in Anesthesiology.
• Minimum two years of post‑specialty experience as an Anesthesia Specialist.
• DOH licence or eligibility as a Specialist in Anesthesia.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS preferred.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (preferred).
• Airway management techniques.
• Hemodynamic monitoring during surgery.
