Applications & Systems Engineer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

The Applications & Systems Engineer will design, deploy and maintain the core application and infrastructure platforms that support our business‑critical services. You will ensure high reliability, performance, scalability and security across virtualised environments, storage systems and Linux servers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain web, application, middleware and integration platforms.
• Administer virtualised infrastructure – provisioning VMs, configuring high‑availability clusters, live migration and resource optimisation.
• Manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions, including scheduled backups, snapshots, deduplication and disaster‑recovery processes.
• Administer SAN, NAS and software‑defined storage (ZFS, Ceph), handling pools, volumes and datasets.
• Install, configure and optimise Linux‑based operating systems, applying performance tuning and hardening.
• Monitor system performance, capacity and availability, proactively resolving issues.
• Implement security best practices: patch management, access control, vulnerability remediation and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of hands‑on experience in systems administration, application infrastructure and Linux environments.
• Strong experience with virtualization platforms, high‑availability clustering and live migration.
• Proven experience with enterprise backup/recovery and storage technologies (SAN, NAS, ZFS, Ceph).
• Solid knowledge of Linux security, disaster‑recovery planning and business continuity.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and documentation skills.
• Experience in financial or payment services and within the UAE is an advantage.
