Assistant Manager, Engineering

About the role

Rare Finds is a collection of resorts rooted in their destinations; Bab Al Shams Desert Resort sits among Dubai's dunes and is rooted in Emirati culture. The Assistant Manager, Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing daily engineering operations, ensuring effective maintenance of property assets, facilities and equipment. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, team supervision, regulatory compliance and efficient delivery of engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Engineering in overseeing daily operations, maintenance schedules and departmental budgets.
• Conduct regular inspections and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of building systems, equipment and assets.
• Supervise engineering technicians and ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks to established standards.
• Prepare scopes of work and BOQs for maintenance, refurbishment, CAPEX and FF&E projects.
• Ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire and life safety systems operate safely and comply with regulations.
• Monitor maintenance requests, work orders and records through the CMMS and ensure timely resolution.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external contractors for maintenance, inspections and statutory testing.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory requirements and hotel engineering procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a 5-star hotel or hospitality property, preferably in engineering.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance, building systems and health and safety regulations.
• Strong leadership, team management and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Proficiency in property management systems and CMMS.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
