Assistant Manager of Housekeeping

About the role

American Hospital Dubai - Science Park is looking for an Assistant Manager of Housekeeping to support the Housekeeping Manager in running day-to-day housekeeping operations. The role ensures safe, hygienic and patient-centred environments in line with hospital policies, infection control requirements and JCI standards, while supervising staff, monitoring service quality and coordinating with internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, guide and mentor housekeeping supervisors and staff; help prepare duty rosters and monitor manpower coverage
• Oversee daily cleaning of patient rooms, operating theatres, clinical areas, offices, public areas and support services, and check that schedules, procedures and quality standards are followed
• Ensure cleaning equipment, chemicals and supplies are handled safely and in line with manufacturer guidelines
• Monitor infection control and environmental hygiene, support waste management and sustainability initiatives, and report service gaps and risks to the Housekeeping Manager
• Carry out routine inspections and audits, follow up on complaints and incidents, and keep inspection records and audit documentation
• Help monitor departmental expenditure, manage inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, chemicals and equipment, and coordinate linen services and inventory audits
• Coordinate with Nursing, Facilities Management, Infection Control and other departments, and support emergency preparedness such as outbreaks, fire drills and disaster calls
• Represent the Housekeeping Department in internal meetings and support continuous improvement and staff training

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Facilities Management, Healthcare Administration or a related field
• At least 8 years of progressive experience in housekeeping or facilities services, including at least 4 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in healthcare
• Knowledge of housekeeping operations in healthcare, laboratory or regulated clinical settings, infection control, environmental hygiene and waste management
• Knowledge of linen services, chemical safety, inventory control and site-based resource management
