Assistant Manager – Property Facultative Reinsurance

About the role

The Assistant Manager will support the placement of property facultative reinsurance by preparing accurate submissions, approaching approved markets, obtaining competitive capacity and terms, and completing placement documentation within required timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Review underwriting referrals that require facultative reinsurance support and determine the appropriate structure (sum insured, retention, quota share, excess‑of‑loss, layers, deductibles, etc.).
• Prepare clear facultative reinsurance submissions, approach local, regional and international markets, and negotiate rates, commissions, coverage and exclusions under senior underwriter supervision.
• Maintain accurate records of market approaches, quotations, declinatures and placement status; secure written reinsurance confirmation before committing to facultative‑dependent risks.
• Analyse underwriting information (COPE data, risk surveys, claims experience, fire protection, natural catastrophe exposure, valuation reports) and flag missing or inconsistent data before market submission.
• Prepare and manage facultative slips, comparison sheets, signing schedules, cover notes, premium calculations and endorsement requests, ensuring a complete audit trail.
• Track renewals, coordinate with underwriting teams for updated risk information, and monitor changes in exposures, claims experience and capacity utilization.
• Coordinate with property underwriters, brokers, reinsurers, finance, claims and policy administration teams to ensure compliance with underwriting appetite, treaty limits, regulatory obligations and internal procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in property facultative reinsurance, preferably with regional exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as a Diploma or Advanced Diploma (III or CII) is considered an added advantage.
