Assistant Physical Education Teacher

About the role

The Assistant Physical Education Teacher supports the lead PE teacher in delivering engaging, safe, and effective physical education lessons. This role involves direct interaction with students, helping to maintain a positive learning environment and ensuring equipment and facilities are ready for use.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the physical education teacher with instructional activities and specialized tasks.
• Help establish and maintain standards of student behavior during classes.
• Monitor individual student needs and alert the teacher to any special requirements.
• Provide escort and assistance to children as needed.
• Maintain individual student records related to physical education.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Promote safety habits during games and activities.
• Set up and arrange equipment for each class.
• Maintain order in the classroom and keep students on task.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education in Physical Education, Movement Science, or Sports Coaching.
• At least 2 years experience as a Teacher Assistant in Physical Education.
• Warm, accessible, caring, and enthusiastic attitude.
• Ability to create a sense of community and belonging in the classroom.
• Skilled leader who can shift gears and remain flexible.
• Professional conduct at all times.
