Assistant Professor – Data Science (Full‑time)

About the role

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the American University of Sharjah is seeking a full‑time, regular faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor in Data Science, starting August 2027. Candidates should have strong research potential and be prepared to build an active research programme while contributing to undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an active research agenda in data science, securing external grants and publishing in reputable venues.
• Supervise graduate students and mentor undergraduate projects.
• Teach courses across the curriculum, including introductory and advanced data‑science topics.
• Engage in international collaborations and industry‑related data‑science projects.

Required profile

• PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics or Applied Mathematics by the start date.
• Demonstrated record of quality publications and clear potential for sustained research contributions.
• Excellence in teaching at all levels with strong English communication skills.
• Experience in North‑American‑style higher education and industry collaborations is highly desirable.
