About the role

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the American University of Sharjah seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor of Mathematics to join its faculty in August 2027. The position is open to candidates in any area of mathematics, with a preference for those specializing in algebra or applied mathematics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an active research program, publish quality papers, and secure external research funding.
• Supervise master’s and PhD students, guiding them through thesis work and research projects.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses across the mathematics curriculum, delivering high‑quality instruction.

Required profile

• PhD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.
• Demonstrated record of research excellence with peer‑reviewed publications.
• Proven teaching effectiveness at the university level and strong communication skills in English.
• Experience or familiarity with North‑American style education is preferred.
