Assistant Resident Engineer (Civil)

About the role

Parsons is looking for an Assistant Resident Engineer (Civil) to support construction supervision of water distribution network projects for a major utility client in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. You will work closely with the Resident Engineer to ensure safe, on‑schedule delivery of works that meet approved drawings, specifications and client standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise water network construction activities such as excavation, pipe laying, thrust restraint, chambers, valves, fittings, backfilling and reinstatement.
• Perform day‑to‑day site inspections, attend field and laboratory tests, and approve site supervision activities.
• Maintain red‑mark and as‑built drawing corrections, verify contractor submissions and advise on final approvals.
• Monitor progress against the construction schedule, report on work status and support timely completion.
• Participate in HSE walkthroughs, risk assessments and permit‑to‑work compliance, and coordinate with QA/QC to ensure quality records are kept.

Required profile

• Minimum BE/BSc in Civil Engineering, certified by the Ministry of Higher Education.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in consultancy on water distribution projects.
• Fluent English reading and writing, full‑time availability and willingness to work a six‑day week on site.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of water network installation, testing, disinfection and commissioning practices.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and inspection/test plans.
• Experience with project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Strong understanding of HSE requirements, confined‑space, excavation, lifting and permit‑to‑work systems.
