Assistant Resident Engineer - Civil (Overhead Transmission Lines)

About the role

The Assistant Resident Engineer - Civil leads and manages all aspects of overhead transmission line (OHL) projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring adherence to project objectives, schedules and budgets. The role acts as the primary technical leader on-site for EPC civil works, supervising contractors and managing daily construction activities.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and approve civil works (earthworks, tower foundations, access roads, drainage) against approved drawings, method statements and inspection and test plans.
• Review and approve civil drawings, shop drawings, material submittals and geotechnical reports.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE standards and UAE/TAQA safety regulations, and audit work, quality and progress regularly.
• Coordinate permits and NOCs, maintain site documentation (RFIs, NCRs), and coordinate with suppliers and vendors.
• Attend progress meetings, submit daily and weekly progress reports, and verify as-built documents.
• Verify materials and work measurements, certify them, and complete project closeout.
• Provide technical guidance to the project team, contractor and clients, resolve disputes and mitigate risks.
• Maintain complete project records, including test reports and as-built drawings, for proper handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field; master's degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in civil engineering, focused on overhead transmission line projects.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours.

Required skills

• Knowledge of transmission line design, construction and maintenance, including tower configurations.
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and AutoCAD.
• Expertise in reinforced concrete foundations, geotechnical investigation, tower spotting and stringing logistics.
• Strong project management, communication and leadership skills.
