Assistant Resident Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and collaborative Assistant Resident Engineer to join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this role you will provide essential technical support to the Resident Engineer and project team, ensuring that all construction works meet statutory requirements, contractual obligations and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Engineer in statutory duties and technical competent‑person requirements mandated by local authorities.
• Conduct regular on‑site inspections to verify compliance with approved plans, method statements and safety protocols.
• Review contractor‑proposed construction sequences, temporary works and late‑cast openings for structural integrity and feasibility.
• Monitor and support the contractor’s technical competent persons, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to project standards.
• Serve as liaison between contractor, site team and design office to resolve construction issues.
• Identify, document and escalate non‑conformities with transparency.
• Implement and monitor QA/QC systems, site safety protocols and environmental management practices.
• Prepare site reports, inspection records, defect reports and maintain organized filing systems for all correspondence and regulatory approvals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent higher diploma).
• Minimum 2 years of post‑degree experience on civil or structural construction projects (or 5 years post‑diploma).
• Experience with superstructure works, civil drainage systems and site formation activities.
• Strong knowledge of construction compliance, statutory requirements and UAE regulatory standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work effectively in multicultural, collaborative team environments.
