Assistant Underwriter – Construction

About the role

Zurich’s Commercial Insurance Middle East team is looking for a detail‑oriented Assistant Underwriter to support the Construction underwriting line. You will work closely with senior underwriters to evaluate low‑complexity construction risks and ensure accurate policy documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior underwriters in reviewing applications, assessing and pricing low‑complexity construction risks, and setting terms in line with underwriting guidelines.
• Provide basic underwriting support such as account servicing, preparing documentation, and updating underwriting systems.
• Maintain up‑to‑date underwriting records, including policies, endorsements, and related correspondence.
• Communicate with brokers and internal stakeholders to gather missing information, clarify policy details, and address inquiries.
• Prepare underwriting reports, summaries and presentations to aid decision‑making.
• Collaborate with Claims, Finance and other cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth underwriting processes.
• Stay informed on industry regulations, policy changes and market conditions affecting underwriting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Knowledge of insurance principles and industry practices.
• Strong analytical ability and high attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills in a fast‑paced environment.
• Professional communication skills and ability to handle confidential information.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Experience using underwriting software.
