About the role

This role offers a motivated, client‑focused lawyer the chance to build long‑term relationships with high‑profile clients and contribute to the growth of a leading construction practice in the region. Based in Abu Dhabi, the associate will support a key institutional client in the oil and gas sector, advising on bespoke construction contracts and working closely with the client’s in‑house legal and project‑management teams.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, advise on, negotiate and prepare construction contract documentation, including FIDIC standard forms, consultancy agreements and ancillary security.
• Provide strategic contract advisory services on live projects across the Gulf, including risk identification, mitigation and interpretation of contractual provisions.
• Collaborate closely with in‑house legal and project‑management teams to ensure alignment with commercial and operational objectives.
• Support the development and mentoring of trainees and paralegals within the team.
• Contribute to thought‑leadership initiatives through legal research, client briefings and publication of articles.
• Build, maintain and develop client relationships.
• Participate proactively in marketing initiatives.
• Deliver client training seminars and presentations.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience.
• Law degree from a recognised university (minimum 2:1).
• Previous private‑practice experience advising on the life‑cycle of major construction and infrastructure projects.
• Experience working in the Middle East is advantageous but not essential.

Required skills

• Knowledge of FIDIC standard contract forms.
• Understanding of UAE and English law.
