Associate Vice President – IT Audit

About the role

The Associate Vice President – IT Audit will lead risk‑based technology audits and provide assurance on IT and cybersecurity controls for the bank. Reporting to senior IT audit leadership, the role balances planned audit work with ad‑hoc regulator‑driven assignments while building strong relationships across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute end‑to‑end technology audits, including budgeting, fieldwork, reporting and follow‑up.
• Assess material gaps in control environments and provide clear executive‑level commentary.
• Develop and maintain the IT Audit Universe, ensuring coverage of all relevant systems and data.
• Review closure evidence for audit findings and action plans.
• Lead transformation initiatives such as new workflow tools, AI‑driven testing strategies and skills‑enhancement sessions.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including upward management of the Head of Technology Audit.
• Adapt to both planned annual audit activities and unplanned regulator‑mandated audits.
• Identify emerging technology risks (e.g., blockchain, AI) and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting or related field.
• 10‑12+ years of audit or information security experience in banking or financial services.
• Professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CRISC, CIA, CCSP or ISO 42001.
• Strong knowledge of local UAE regulations, international frameworks and IIA standards.
• Proven ability to lead audit teams, present complex risk commentary to senior executives and negotiate outcomes.
• Experience with emerging technologies and their risk implications.
