AV Supervisor

About the role

The AV Supervisor will ensure flawless audio‑visual delivery for events and daily operations at Sofitel Dubai The Palm, a 5‑star beachfront resort. You will work closely with the Events team, external suppliers and hotel departments to create memorable guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Review event orders (BEOs) and plan AV set‑up, equipment and timing.
• Install, test and operate sound systems, microphones, projectors, LED screens, video walls, stage lighting and video‑conferencing tools.
• Attend pre‑event briefings, rehearsals and sound checks; remain on standby during events to resolve issues.
• Support hybrid and virtual meetings, handling streaming, cameras, laptops and presenter connectivity.
• Maintain background music, paging and AV systems across restaurants, bars, pool, beach, spa and public areas.
• Dismantle, clean, store and inventory all equipment after each event.
• Run preventive maintenance, report losses or damage, and keep an up‑to‑date equipment inventory.
• Coordinate with external AV suppliers and supervise their work on the property.
• Advise clients and the Events team on technical solutions and help upsell AV packages.
• Log all work orders and incidents in the maintenance system and follow safety standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or technical certificate in electronics, audio‑visual, sound engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years’ AV experience in a 5‑star hotel, convention venue or event production company.
• Hands‑on knowledge of digital mixers, wireless microphones, projection, LED screens, lighting and video‑conferencing platforms.
• Good understanding of signal flow, basic networking and AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron) – an advantage.
• Fluent spoken and written English; Arabic or French is a plus.
• Valid UAE driving licence – an advantage.
