Charge Nurse – Operating Room

About the role

The Charge Nurse for the Operating Room leads the patient‑care team in delivering safe, high‑quality surgical services at Madinat Zayed Hospital. This position ensures that nursing practice aligns with the regulatory scope, the hospital’s mission, and the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership, mentorship and supervision to nursing staff during each shift.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary team activities to deliver patient‑ and family‑centered care.
• Monitor clinical standards, identify variances and implement corrective actions.
• Manage staffing levels, skill mix and resource utilization in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
• Act as preceptor for less‑experienced staff and deliver constructive performance feedback.
• Participate in committees, budget preparation and organizational change initiatives.
• Serve as the acting manager in the absence of the Nurse Manager, ensuring continuity of operations.

Required profile

• Qualified nurse practising within the regulatory scope of Abu Dhabi.
• Demonstrated leadership, critical‑thinking and conflict‑management abilities.
• Commitment to collaborative practice and interdisciplinary communication.
• Ability to mentor, coach and evaluate nursing staff.
• Strong orientation toward patient safety, advocacy and service excellence.
