Chemist - Technical Laboratory

About the role

Ecolab is seeking a Chemist to carry out technical laboratory activities in support of technical platform development. The role involves running analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances, developing new methods and protecting project innovations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances to determine and evaluate their applications
• Run experiments to improve or duplicate materials and substances, and examine potential new uses for technical platforms
• Engage in research to develop new processing or production methods
• Collect data, perform technical analysis, write written technical reports and give recommendations at project checkpoints
• Develop differentiated technology, products, processes or systems and provide professional divisional support
• Maintain accurate lab notebook records and file reports for experimental work
• Select appropriate methods, tests and procedures, and develop innovative applications of existing or new products and processes
• Protect proprietary project innovations with proper legal instruments such as patents

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry; biology or biochemistry may not be a perfect fit for Nalco operations
• 3-5 years of experience preferred over 2 years, ideally in the chemical blending industry or third-party laboratories
• Previous experience working under GMP conditions is preferred
• Preferred: experience applying scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, analyse solutions and draw valid conclusions, and success on complex, multi-function project teams

Required skills

• Operating knowledge of analytical laboratory instrumentation
• Knowledge of physical analysis, spectrophotometric analysis, quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Preferred: chromatographic analysis
• Strong presentation skills and ability to work independently on multiple tasks
