Chief Engineer

About the role

The Chief Engineer will lead the Engineering department of Grand Mercure Dubai City, a 5‑star Accor hotel. This senior position is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety and performance of all technical installations across the property.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and execute the annual Preventive Maintenance programme for all building systems.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory, coordinate purchasing with finance and ensure accurate stock records.
• Oversee technical installations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, emergency generator, air‑conditioning, kitchen equipment, cooling systems, swimming‑pool plant, lighting and audio‑visual systems.
• Lead and train the engineering team, schedule daily briefings and monthly meetings, and ensure compliance with Accor safety, hygiene and brand standards.
• Approve invoices, monitor maintenance contracts and prepare monthly performance reports for the General Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., Certified Hotel Engineer) are a plus.
• 5‑7 years of managerial experience in hotel or hospitality engineering, with proven leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance processes and local safety regulations.
