Civil Engineer – Cement & Grinding Plant

About the role

The Civil Engineer is responsible for the civil and structural engineering scope of capital projects, plant modifications and infrastructure works across cement and grinding plants. This role ensures the condition and integrity of all civil and structural assets, coordinating closely with maintenance and production teams.

Key responsibilities

• Hold overall responsibility for foundations, buildings, roads, drainage and other civil assets of the cement and grinding plants.
• Inspect and assess condition of civil and structural infrastructure, tracking deterioration and required repairs.
• Plan, review and supervise civil engineering works for capital projects, including foundations, storage buildings and civil structures.
• Validate structural design calculations, workshop drawings and load data from equipment suppliers and EPC contractors.
• Coordinate civil works interfaces with mechanical, electrical, structural steel and process disciplines.
• Oversee site civil construction activities and manage contractors and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with applicable civil and structural codes, standards and UAE building regulations.
• Support geotechnical investigations and ensure foundation designs address site conditions and equipment loads.
• Prepare and review civil scopes of work, bills of quantities and cost estimates.
• Monitor project budgets, schedules and progress, reporting deviations and driving corrective actions.
• Promote strict HSE compliance and a strong safety culture on construction sites.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of civil and structural design principles for heavy industrial facilities.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, Eurocode, BS, ASCE) and local UAE building regulations.
• Understanding of geotechnical engineering and foundation design for heavy machinery loads.
