Civil Inspector – Dry Utilities

About the role

The Civil Inspector will work closely with the Resident Engineer, contractors and QA/QC teams to monitor construction progress, verify workmanship and ensure compliance with project requirements for dry utility infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and supervise dry utility works including electrical networks, street lighting, telecommunications, ICT ducts, utility corridors, substations and feeder pillars.
• Monitor excavation, trenching, duct bank installation, cable laying, backfilling, reinstatement and utility crossings.
• Verify compliance of installed ducts, conduits, cables, warning tapes and marker posts with approved specifications.
• Witness testing and commissioning activities such as cable testing, duct integrity testing and illumination testing.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, field observation reports and maintain inspection records.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of construction supervision and inspection experience, including at least 5 years on dry utility projects.
• Experience with electrical, telecom, ICT and street‑lighting infrastructure.
• Previous work on large‑scale infrastructure developments and interaction with private developers and utility authorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with construction management systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, utility layouts and technical specifications.
