Civil Inspector - Stormwater and Micro Tunneling

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Civil Inspector in Dubai to supervise and inspect stormwater drainage and micro tunneling works on a contract basis. The inspector ensures that the contractor's civil works comply with design requirements and the standards of Dubai Municipality, RTA and other authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect excavation, shoring, backfilling, micro tunneling drives, shaft construction, reinforcement, concrete pouring, waterproofing and finishing of stormwater structures.
• Verify alignment, gradients and levels of stormwater pipelines, chambers and manholes against the design.
• Ensure works comply with Dubai Municipality, RTA and relevant authority standards and approved quality control procedures.
• Record and report daily manpower, equipment and material deliveries on site.
• Supervise concrete curing, coating and lining works for stormwater structures.
• Assist the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions and verifying contractor responses and close-out.
• Coordinate with the contractor to resolve civil works issues and follow up on corrective actions.
• Prepare daily inspection reports with observations, progress updates, test results and safety notes.
• Support surveying and measurement verification of pipe routes, invert levels and structural tolerances.
• Monitor and support testing, commissioning and handover of stormwater networks and civil works.
• Assist in reviewing RFIs, method statements and variance requests, and coordinate with client representatives and authority inspectors.
• Maintain records of inspections, NCRs, test results, as-built updates and executed works.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction and supervision of sewerage, stormwater, irrigation and miscellaneous works, with at least 5 years in the UAE (mandatory).
• In-depth knowledge of construction practices, building codes and regulations in the UAE.
• Strong familiarity with contract documents, detailed drawings and project specifications.

Required skills

• Proficiency in site inspections, quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Experience supervising civil works such as micro tunneling and stormwater drainage.
