Climate Programming Advisor Consultant (GCRP – Pooled Fund)

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking a Consultant to serve as a Climate Programming Advisor for the Global Climate Resilience Platform (GCRP) pooled fund. The role will support the scaling‑up of locally‑led climate action and enhance community resilience across IFRC member societies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction to national societies and IFRC teams.
• Support the design, implementation and monitoring of climate‑focused projects funded through the GCRP pooled fund.
• Facilitate coordination among IFRC divisions, regional offices and external partners to align climate programming with IFRC Strategy 2030.
• Contribute to the development of climate resilience frameworks, guidelines and best‑practice tools.
• Assist in reporting, knowledge sharing and evaluation of climate initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in climate change adaptation, resilience building or disaster risk reduction, preferably in a humanitarian context.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with IFRC policies, humanitarian standards and international climate finance mechanisms.

Required skills

• Knowledge of climate resilience frameworks and disaster risk reduction methodologies.
• Project management and monitoring‑evaluation expertise.
• Understanding of climate finance instruments and pooled‑fund mechanisms.
