Clinic Support Assistant

About the role

The Clinic Support Assistant (CSA) provides essential administrative and clinical assistance in a fast‑paced healthcare environment. Working under the supervision of licensed professionals, the CSA helps ensure that patients receive safe, efficient care throughout their visit.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organise clinical and waiting areas for consultations, procedures and patient flow.
• Provide non‑interventional support during examinations and treatments, including chaperoning, consumable preparation and room turnover.
• When trained, perform basic patient‑care tasks such as mobility assistance, bed making and personal hygiene under supervision.
• Clean and sterilise medical equipment according to NMC policy.
• Maintain and update patient records while ensuring confidentiality and data protection.
• Schedule appointments, manage admissions and discharges, and conduct follow‑up discharge calls.
• Monitor inventory of medical supplies and restock as needed.
• Offer emotional support and clear communication to patients and families as directed.
• Transport patient specimens and escort patients between departments in line with policy.
• Adhere to all safety, health, infection‑control and regulatory standards, and report incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Ability to work under the direction and supervision of licensed healthcare professionals.
• Willingness to follow NMC policies, infection‑control procedures and regulatory scope of practice.
• Strong sense of confidentiality and data‑protection compliance.
• Good communication skills to interact with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Attention to detail for record‑keeping, inventory management and equipment preparation.
