Cluster Director Of Engineering

About the role

The Cluster Director of Engineering leads the engineering, maintenance and asset‑management function across two Novotel hotels in Dubai. Reporting to the Cluster General Manager, the role ensures operational excellence, safety, reliability and a high‑quality guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the integrity and performance of all critical building infrastructure, including foundations, structure, MEP systems, chillers, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water systems, lifts and life‑safety systems.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximise asset reliability and lifecycle.
• Lead major engineering projects, renovations and technical upgrades from concept through execution and handover.
• Prepare and manage CAPEX plans, budgets and business cases in partnership with the Cluster GM and owning company.
• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, fire and life‑safety standards, brand standards and engineering legislation.
• Drive energy, water and utility optimisation, supporting ESG, carbon‑reduction and sustainability objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years of engineering experience, preferably in upscale hospitality or large‑scale commercial properties.
• 3–5 years in a senior engineering/technical leadership role managing multiple properties or complex assets.
• Proven experience with CAPEX, major renovations, asset lifecycle management and UAE regulatory compliance.
• Strong commercial, analytical and stakeholder‑management skills, with ability to work directly with General Managers and owners.
