CNC Machine Operator-Contractor

About the role

We are looking for an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join our production team on a contract basis. The role involves setting up and running multi‑axis CNC equipment to produce high‑precision components for defence and emerging technology projects.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC machines, lathes, milling and turning centres.
• Translate engineering drawings into machine dimensions and tool paths.
• Load and unload raw material, monitor coolant levels and perform daily equipment cleaning.
• Record production data, quality logs and SFC entries, including downtime.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet client specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot machine issues and minimise downtime.
• Monitor scrap levels and report any excess.
• Set up cutting tools using heat‑shrink fit and dynamic tool balancer according to the cutting‑tool list.

Required profile

• Trade school accreditation or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of experience operating CNC milling and turning machines.
• Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and engineering documents.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, 5S‑compliant work area.
