Commis Chef – Hotel Kitchen

About the role

At Avani Palm View Dubai Hotel & Suites, the Commis Chef supports daily kitchen operations by preparing, cooking, and presenting food in line with the hotel’s recipes, hygiene standards and quality expectations. This entry‑level position works closely with the Chef de Partie and senior chefs to ensure a smooth and efficient service across all kitchen sections.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to approved recipes, portion sizes and hotel standards.
• Assist the Chef de Partie and senior chefs with daily preparation and operation of the assigned kitchen section.
• Wash, cut, chop, marinate and portion ingredients as required.
• Maintain consistency in food quality, taste and presentation.
• Keep the kitchen, equipment, utensils and work area clean and hygienic, following HACCP and food safety standards.
• Check freshness and quality of ingredients, report concerns, and store, label and rotate stock using FIFO procedures.
• Minimise food waste and use supplies responsibly.
• Support buffet preparation, live stations, banquets, events and other kitchen operations as needed.
• Handle kitchen equipment safely and report any defects or maintenance issues.
• Collaborate with other kitchen team members to ensure timely food service.
