Commis I – Kitchen Assistant (Full‑Time)

About the role

The Commis I will join the culinary team at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, a five‑star beachfront hotel in Abu Dhabi. This entry‑level position supports daily food preparation, ensuring high standards of quality, safety and presentation for all service periods and special events.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, portion control and presentation guidelines.
• Complete daily mise en place to guarantee readiness for breakfast, lunch, dinner and banquet services.
• Operate independently within the assigned kitchen section while maintaining consistency and quality.
• Monitor freshness, quality and proper storage of all food products using FIFO principles.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, utensils and storage areas.
• Record daily requisitions, stock control, temperature logs and cleaning records accurately.
• Support Chef de Partie, Sous Chef and Executive Chef during à la carte, buffet, banquet and special event operations.
• Assist in training Commis II and Commis III colleagues and participate in kitchen briefings and departmental meetings.

Required profile

• Sound knowledge of international culinary techniques and kitchen operations.
• Thorough understanding of HACCP, food hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
