Commis I – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Commis I to join the kitchen team at Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi. The role involves preparing ingredients, cooking under chef direction, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients, wash, peel, and store fruits and vegetables.
• Measure, mix, and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers, and test food for proper doneness.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in correct portions, and maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas and equipment.
• Monitor appliance and food temperatures, follow safety and security policies, and report any hazards.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in a hotel, restaurant or catering kitchen.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations and food safety standards.
• Ability to follow recipes, standard operating procedures and chef instructions accurately.
• Understanding of proper food storage and FIFO stock rotation.
• Positive attitude, attention to detail and willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
