Commodity Management Specialist

About the role

The Commodity Management Specialist will own the end‑to‑end sourcing strategy, supplier base and commercial performance for mechanical parts including investment casting, additive manufacturing, CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication. The role balances cost, quality, delivery and supply risk while driving aerospace Tier‑1 sourcing discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and continuously refine multi‑year sourcing strategy for the mechanical commodity group and manage the Preferred Supplier List.
• Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP cycles, negotiate price, lead time, MOQ, Incoterms and payment terms, and support make‑vs‑buy decisions.
• Identify, evaluate and qualify new suppliers globally, drive cost‑down initiatives and partner with Supply Chain Quality on performance reviews.
• Provide DFM input to Engineering, manage capacity planning and maintain commodity‑level risk registers.
• Track and report commodity spend, savings and total cost of ownership, present updates at Quarterly Business Reviews and own supplier contracts.

Required profile

• 8‑12 years of sourcing/category management experience in investment casting, CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication, preferably in aerospace or defence.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
• Experience managing an AS9100D‑qualified supply base and using SAP MM or Ariba.
