Commodity Management Specialist

About the role

The Commodity Manager – Mechanical parts is responsible for the end‑to‑end sourcing strategy, supplier base and commercial performance of the mechanical commodity group, covering investment casting, additive manufacturing, CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication.

Key responsibilities

• Own and continuously refine the multi‑year sourcing strategy, applying Kraljic segmentation and managing the Preferred Supplier List.
• Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP cycles, negotiate price, lead time, MOQ, Incoterms and payment terms.
• Identify, evaluate and qualify new suppliers globally; drive cost‑down initiatives such as should‑cost modelling and VA/VE.
• Provide DFM input to engineering, manage capacity planning and maintain a commodity‑level risk register.
• Track and report commodity spend, savings and total cost of ownership against program KPIs.

Required profile

• 8‑12 years of sourcing/category management experience in investment casting, CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication, preferably in aerospace or defence.
• Strong technical grounding in casting processes, machining tolerances and sheet metal fabrication methods.
• Experience managing an AS9100D‑qualified supply base and proven negotiation, should‑cost modelling and TCO analysis skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
