Compliance Specialist

About the role

The Compliance Specialist will support the university’s compliance program by providing administrative, research and monitoring functions. This role assists departments in meeting local laws, university policies and regulatory requirements while helping to develop improvement plans and training initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and administer a campus‑wide monitoring program to ensure compliance with local laws and university requirements.
• Support the scope definition of compliance monitoring tools and oversee campus/department monitoring visits.
• Design and deliver technology‑based training for staff, program directors and other stakeholders on regulatory requirements.
• Assist departments in conducting comprehensive needs assessments, improvement plans and program evaluations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, board policies and administrative rules.
• Prepare and present project completion reports and corrective action plans.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors, governmental entities and other stakeholders.
• Maintain confidentiality of all compliance work and adhere to information security policies.
• Perform periodic compliance reviews, operational audits and investigative audits.
• Provide customer service to students, employees, parents and community members.

Required profile

• Professional awareness of regulations affecting student attendance and university operations.
• Working knowledge of state law, board policy and administrative regulations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Commitment to a safe and healthy work environment.
• Strong collaboration skills with department personnel, auditors and external partners.
