Construction Superintendent – Lifting Operations

About the role

Petrofac is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead lifting and rigging activities on its construction sites. The role focuses on planning, executing, and supervising all crane, lift, and haul operations while ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop lift and haul schedules and optimise the use of lifting resources according to site priorities.
• Plan and select appropriate cranes, lifting gear and equipment, and provide clear safety instructions.
• Prepare method statements, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and ensure compliance with HSE and lifting procedures.
• Conduct daily site audits, inspections and monitoring of rigging operations to verify adherence to approved lift plans.
• Oversee day‑to‑day crane and lifting activities, including load‑out, load‑in, hauling and erection tasks.
• Ensure all lifting equipment is inspected, maintained and certified by approved third‑parties.
• Train and certify rigging personnel, maintain competency records and manage VOC assessments.
• Review, approve and manage lift plans, rigging procedures and subcontractor lift studies.

Required profile

• Extensive rigging and lifting experience in direct‑hire construction, preferably with an international oil & gas EPC contractor.
• Proven track record supervising rigging teams and managing complex lift operations for modular, static, rotating equipment and oversized transport.
• Strong knowledge of crane selection, lift planning, equipment certification and HSE regulations.
• Ability to develop method statements, JSAs and conduct thorough site audits.
