Construction Supervisor – Civil

About the role

Lead and supervise on‑site civil construction activities for a utility‑scale solar PV project in a remote location in Zambia. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will manage daily operations, coordinate subcontractors and labour teams, and ensure safe, efficient delivery from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily construction activities, directing labour and coordinating subcontractor teams to meet safety, programme and quality standards.
• Oversee the civil construction scope, including earthworks, foundations, cable trenching, equipment plinths and related structural works from mobilisation to handover.
• Monitor progress against the construction schedule, report deviations and support corrective actions.
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications and codes.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental compliance, delivering toolbox talks, inductions and hazard inspections.
• Maintain accurate site records such as daily diaries, material delivery logs, workforce attendance and photographic progress documentation.
• Liaise with subcontractor representatives to resolve technical and logistical issues.

Required profile

• Engineering or construction management degree, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of construction supervision experience, including at least one utility‑scale solar PV project (>20 MWp) delivered from start to finish.
• Proven experience working in Africa or similar remote, emerging‑market environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary site teams of 50 + personnel.
• Fluent English and medically fit for remote site work.
• Resilient, hands‑on leader with strong cultural intelligence and a commitment to developing local talent.
