Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon

About the role

The Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon will deliver advanced surgical care to infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart disease in a tertiary care setting in Abu Dhabi. The position requires a Tier‑1, Western‑trained surgeon with proven expertise in complex pediatric cardiac procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Perform the full spectrum of pediatric congenital cardiac surgeries, including neonatal and infant repairs, VSD/ASD closures, Tetralogy of Fallot correction, arterial switch procedures, valve repairs/replacements and complex reconstructions.
• Provide pre‑operative assessment, operative care and post‑operative management for patients.
• Collaborate closely with pediatric cardiology, PICU, anesthesia and perfusion teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, surgical planning meetings and on‑call cardiac surgery rota.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with UAE regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Tier‑1 accepted qualification (e.g., UK CCT/CESR, US Board Certification with pediatric cardiac fellowship, Canadian RCPSC Fellowship, Irish CSCST, Australian FRACS, German Facharzt).
• Minimum 3–5 years post‑consultant experience in pediatric cardiac surgery with demonstrated competence in high‑complexity congenital procedures.
• Eligibility for a DOH or DHA consultant licence, including required exam or exemption.
