Consultant Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist

About the role

Tawam Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Pediatric Hematologist‑Oncologist to join its multidisciplinary pediatric team. The role involves delivering expert care for children and adolescents with a wide range of hematologic disorders and cancers, while upholding the highest standards of clinical excellence, patient safety and evidence‑based practice.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat and manage benign and malignant pediatric hematologic disorders, including leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumours, sickle‑cell disease, thalassaemia, hemophilia, bone‑marrow failure syndromes and other anaemias.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and supervise chemotherapy protocols.
• Manage inpatient, outpatient and emergency hematology‑oncology cases.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumour boards, case conferences and collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and allied health professionals.
• Provide family counselling, education and long‑term care guidance.
• Support quality‑improvement, patient‑safety and clinical‑governance initiatives.
• Teach, mentor and train junior physicians and healthcare staff.
• Contribute to clinical research, academic activities and publications.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) recognised by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health.
• Completed accredited paediatric residency and fellowship/sub‑specialty certification in paediatric haematology‑oncology.
• Board‑eligible or board‑certified (American, Canadian, UK CCT, Australian, Arab or equivalent).
• DOH licence as Consultant Paediatric Haematologist‑Oncologist or eligibility for licensure.
• Minimum experience meeting DOH/PQR standards for consultant level.

Required skills

• Experience in Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) programmes.
• Proficiency in supervising chemotherapy protocols and managing complex paediatric cancer cases.
