Consultant Pediatric Surgeon with Urology Experience

About the role

The Consultant Pediatric Surgeon will deliver advanced surgical care to infants, children and adolescents across a range of congenital, developmental, traumatic and oncologic conditions. The role emphasizes a family‑centered approach and adherence to SEHA’s high standards of clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and surgically treat pediatric conditions including neonatal anomalies, gastrointestinal, urologic, thoracic pathologies and tumors.
• Perform elective and emergency pediatric surgeries, utilizing minimally invasive and laparoscopic techniques.
• Oversee pre‑operative and post‑operative patient management to ensure safe recovery.
• Provide surgical consultation to pediatricians, neonatologists, emergency physicians and other specialties.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning within NICU, PICU and the emergency department.
• Mentor residents, junior doctors and surgical staff, contributing to education and professional development.
• Document all clinical interactions in SEHA’s electronic medical record system.
• Engage in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, research and morbidity‑mortality reviews.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Pediatric Surgery.
• Board certification in Pediatric Surgery (e.g., American Board, CCT, FRCS‑Ped).
• Valid DOH Consultant License in Pediatric Surgery or eligibility to obtain it.
• Minimum five years of post‑specialty experience as a Consultant Pediatric Surgeon.
