Data Protection Manager

About the role

The Data Protection Manager will work closely with the Data Protection Officer to build and maintain a robust data protection and privacy framework for ADGM. The role ensures personal data is processed in line with applicable laws, promotes responsible data use, and supports AI governance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the DPO in implementing and maintaining ADGM’s data protection framework.
• Provide day‑to‑day advice on data‑protection obligations to business units.
• Identify lawful bases for processing activities and conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
• Maintain and update Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) and draft privacy notices, policies, and procedures.
• Review data‑sharing agreements, processor contracts, and support data‑subject rights requests.
• Manage personal data breach investigations, root‑cause analysis, and remediation.
• Monitor compliance, support internal audits, and deliver training and awareness sessions.
• Support cross‑border data‑transfer assessments and regulatory reporting.
• Develop data‑protection and AI‑governance metrics, track risks, and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead a team, mentor talent, and ensure performance objectives are met.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Governance, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in data protection, privacy, or a comparable role.
• Professional certification such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent.
• Experience in a regulated environment (public sector or financial services) is desirable.
• Exposure to AI governance and data analytics is a plus.
