Design Engineer – Fire Protection Systems

About the role

NAFFCO is looking for a collaborative and detail‑oriented Design Engineer to create fire protection solutions for commercial, industrial and residential projects. You will develop compliant system designs, support project execution and ensure our fire safety solutions exceed client expectations and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed fire protection system designs, including layout drawings, specifications and hydraulic calculations for sprinklers, alarms, suppression systems and hydrants.
• Interpret client requirements, building codes and fire safety standards to develop cost‑effective, robust solutions.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, architects and contractors throughout the design and project lifecycle.
• Prepare and review technical documentation such as design reports, datasheets, bills of materials and compliance submissions for authority approvals.
• Support project managers and installation teams during procurement, construction and commissioning phases.
• Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments and site visits to resolve queries and verify installation quality.
• Stay updated with the latest codes (NFPA, BS, EN) and technological advancements in fire protection.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fire protection system design within construction, building services or consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, British Standards, local codes).

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Revit or similar engineering design software.
