Design Engineer – MEP

About the role

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, analysing, and coordinating electrical systems for construction and renovation projects. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will create technical drawings, perform load calculations, and ensure all designs meet local and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical system designs, including Single Line Diagrams, load schedules, lighting layouts, power distribution and ELV systems.
• Perform short‑circuit, voltage‑drop calculations and cable sizing to guarantee system efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with ADDC, ADM, Civil Defence and other Abu Dhabi regulatory authorities.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural and MEP teams to integrate electrical solutions seamlessly.
• Manage drafting teams assigned to each project.
• Prepare technical reports, BOQs and material specifications for senior review.
• Conduct design reviews, clash detection and resolve coordination issues before construction.
• Maintain compliance with IEEE, NEC, IEC and local standards, and carry out risk assessments and feasibility studies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical design for construction or renovation projects.
• Familiarity with Abu Dhabi regulatory requirements (ADDC, ADM, Civil Defence).
• Ability to work closely with MEP, architectural and contractor teams.
• Strong analytical skills for calculations and feasibility studies.

Required skills

• Electrical system design (SLD, load schedules, lighting, power distribution, ELV).
• Short‑circuit, voltage‑drop calculations and cable sizing.
• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, IEC standards.
• Understanding of ADDC, ADM and Civil Defence regulations.
• BOQ preparation and material specification.
• Clash detection and design review techniques.
• Drafting team coordination.
