Design Engineer – Utility Projects

About the role

Safad Trading Establishment is looking for a Design Engineer to support engineering design activities for utility‑related projects in Abu Dhabi. The role converts technical requirements into accurate, practical designs while coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and update engineering drawings, layouts, design calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Interpret project requirements, applicable codes, standards and utility authority guidelines.
• Coordinate design inputs with project, procurement, construction and maintenance teams.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, technical proposals and method‑related documentation.
• Identify design conflicts, resolve technical issues and support design changes throughout project delivery.
• Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and support installation or commissioning activities.
• Maintain accurate revision records and contribute to quality, safety and continuous‑improvement processes.

Required profile

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and relevant engineering design or drafting software.
• Ability to produce and interpret technical drawings, schematics, layouts and design calculations.
• Working knowledge of utility infrastructure, equipment interfaces, construction methods and applicable standards.
• Strong understanding of design review, document control, technical submittals and revision management.
• Analytical problem‑solving skills with attention to accuracy, constructability and compliance.
• Competence in Microsoft Office, technical reporting and organized project documentation.
