Desktop Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Desktop Engineer to provide hands‑on operational support for our on‑premises desktop estate. The role involves day‑to‑day troubleshooting, device lifecycle management and ensuring a stable, secure environment for end users in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site desktop support for incidents, requests and problem tickets.
• Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, application and connectivity issues (login failures, network access, printers/peripherals).
• Perform user onboarding and off‑boarding, including account access verification and baseline configuration.
• Support desktop imaging, standard builds and coordinate software packaging and deployment.
• Install, update and validate endpoint software such as productivity tools, line‑of‑business applications and security agents.
• Manage endpoint configuration baselines (policies, drive mappings, shortcuts, permissions, standard settings).
• Maintain device health through OS updates, patch coordination, configuration checks and remediation.
• Ensure endpoint security hygiene (antivirus/EDR status, firewall settings, least‑privilege practices, secure configuration).
• Keep accurate technical documentation: logs, asset records, runbooks and resolution notes.
• Escalate and coordinate with higher‑level technical teams when required.
• Provide basic troubleshooting for peripherals and common end‑user tools (VPN clients, mail/profile setup, browsers).

Required profile

• Proven experience in desktop support or end‑user computing for on‑premises environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows desktop and laptop platforms.
• Experience with desktop lifecycle activities such as imaging, onboarding/off‑boarding and configuration baselines.
• Ability to install and support enterprise applications and perform software updates/upgrades.
• Knowledge of security fundamentals including patching hygiene, antivirus/EDR awareness and secure configuration.
• Clear documentation habits and adherence to operational procedures.
• Excellent customer‑facing communication skills.
• Ability to work 100 % onsite in Abu Dhabi during business hours and operate independently with minimal supervision.
