Desktop Support Engineer

About the role

Unified Microsystems is hiring a Desktop Support Engineer in Dubai. The role provides first-line support to customers, resolving issues or escalating them to second-line support within the agreed service level agreement. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first response to desktop and cabling issues.
• Research and identify solutions to software and hardware problems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including account setup and network configuration.
• Work with servers and telephone systems.
• Use internal databases or external resources to give accurate technical solutions.
• Log all issues accurately and prioritize several open issues at once.
• Follow up with clients so their IT systems are fully functional after troubleshooting.
• Aim for first-time resolution, knowing when to escalate and providing detailed information on each escalation.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician or similar.
• Degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Confident, socially adept, proactive and able to handle pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Willingness to travel and work after hours when necessary.
• Excellent time management, prioritization, scheduling and organization skills.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Windows 7 through 10, Windows Server and Mac operating systems.
• Knowledge of network security practices.
• Ability to give step-by-step technical help, written and verbally.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Certifications in Microsoft, Linux, Fortinet, Cisco or similar technologies are a plus.
