Director, Design & Architecture

About the role

Kerzner is looking for a Director of Design & Architecture, who is either an Interior Designer or an Architect, with essential experience in the hospitality industry. The role ensures that project planning and design are delivered in line with the Operator's Design & Brand Standards and the contractual agreements between Kerzner and the client, acting as the focal point for Kerzner departments and owners/developers during the design stages.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the central contact for Kerzner departments and owners/developers during all design stages, integrating operational requirements into the final design
• Deliver project planning and design in strict alignment with Design & Brand Standards and contractual agreements
• Prepare scopes of works for consultants so they cover design and construction, and obtain operations briefs and operational input from Brand, Operations, IT, F&B and other departments
• Review design deliverables, drawings and specifications, and approve them for compliance with brand, operational and functional requirements
• Oversee the full design process from concept to completion, managing timelines, budgets and quality standards
• Coordinate with the architect of record and construction team, and monitor on-site design execution
• Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of design specialists and evaluate design innovations, materials and technologies
• Monitor performance and design progress against the basis of design, agreed deliverables and milestones, and ensure compliance with the company Business Management System

Required profile

• Interior Designer or Architect with 10 years' experience, including a minimum of 2-5 years in Dubai
• Degree graduate level education
• Experience in high-rise construction
• Experience in the hospitality industry
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
