Director of Groups & Events

About the role

The Director of Groups & Events will lead the execution of all property events, ensuring seamless turnover from sales to operations and back. This senior role focuses on growing event revenue, maximizing financial performance, and delivering exceptional guest experiences in line with Marriott’s brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage event operations and budgets, reviewing scheduled events and troubleshooting potential challenges.
• Coordinate with culinary, banquet, event services, and technology teams to ensure compliance with standards and smooth execution.
• Oversee the event planning team, maintain meeting spaces, and ensure furniture and equipment inventory aligns with corporate guidelines.
• Develop relationships with external vendors, negotiate pricing, and create additional revenue opportunities.
• Introduce innovative ideas to remain competitive and drive incremental revenue while maintaining high guest service levels.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 3 years of experience in event management, food & beverage, sales or marketing, OR a 2‑year degree in Hospitality/Business with 1 year of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to manage large‑scale events, budgets, and cross‑functional teams in a hospitality environment.
