Director of Inclusion – Whole School

About the role

GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is seeking an experienced Director of Inclusion to lead inclusive provision across its through‑school (ages 3‑18). The role starts in January 2027 and reports to the Senior Leadership Team, shaping a culture where every learner thrives academically, socially and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for inclusive education across the whole school.
• Develop and implement best‑practice policies for Students of Determination, ensuring compliance with the Dubai Inclusive Education Policy Framework.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, teachers, parents and external agencies to embed inclusion in all aspects of school life.
• Lead professional learning initiatives, leveraging networks such as StepLab, Cognitive Science Network, SSAT and Evidence Based Education.
• Monitor and evaluate inclusive outcomes, driving continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) and a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Post‑graduate qualification in Special Educational Needs, Inclusion or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
• Significant experience leading inclusion in a high‑performing international school.
• Deep understanding of the British curriculum and inclusive practice across a through‑school setting.
