Director of Wildlife Rescue Centre

About the role

The Director of the Wildlife Rescue Centre leads the strategic and operational management of the centre, ensuring safe rescue, rehabilitation and release of wildlife while maintaining regulatory compliance and high animal welfare standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the centre’s vision, mission and strategic objectives, aligning with Al Ain Zoo’s conservation goals.
• Oversee all operational functions including intake, quarantine, treatment, rehabilitation, release and long‑term care.
• Ensure compliance with UAE wildlife laws, permits and licensing requirements and maintain relationships with government agencies.
• Manage annual operating and capital budgets, procurement and resource allocation.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, handling recruitment, performance management and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, Wildlife Management, Conservation Biology, Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Environmental Science or related field.
• Minimum 10 years experience in zoological or wildlife rescue/rehabilitation operations.
• At least 5 years in senior leadership managing multidisciplinary teams and operational programmes.
• Proven experience working with government regulators and external stakeholders.
