Director, People Development & Effectiveness (UAE National)

About the role

The Director, People Development & Effectiveness leads SSMC’s people capability, organisational effectiveness and business partnership agenda. The role ensures that staff are skilled, engaged and empowered to deliver clinical and service excellence, and acts as the senior owner for performance management, high‑potential identification, learning, wellbeing and organisational effectiveness programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve SSMC’s performance management framework, overseeing the full annual cycle and linking outcomes to compensation and career progression.
• Lead the High‑Potential Identification programme and succession planning, targeting 60 % bench strength for critical and senior leadership roles by FY2027 and developing the Emirati Accelerated Leadership Programme.
• Own the learning ecosystem, creating digital‑first programmes, managing the SSMC Training Academy, expanding it into the SSMC Way Academy and partnering with external institutions for specialised clinical and leadership training.
• Deliver executive and senior leadership development, build internal coaching and mentoring ecosystems, and fast‑track UAE national talent into senior clinical and operational roles.
• Drive employee wellbeing strategy, oversee the Workplace Wellness Council, manage peer‑support and stress‑management initiatives, and monitor wellbeing KPIs such as burnout and engagement scores.
• Lead the People & Organisational Business Partnership team, translating strategy into integrated people plans, establishing service standards and using workforce insights to mitigate risks.
• Develop the SSMC Way Academy as a commercial capability, creating a revenue‑generating portfolio and tracking financial performance.
• Champion organisational effectiveness diagnostics, culture surveys and change‑management interventions, and oversee employee‑relations processes.
